Canadian Dies In Car Crash After Posting ‘Don’t worry I won’t speed’

A Canadian boxer died in a car crash with three friends in Dubai after splitting his rented Ferrari in two on impact with a lamppost.

Cody Nixon, 24, from Toronto posted an online photo of himself and a sport car with the caption: ‘Just landed into Dubai and picked up the Ferrari! Don’t worry, I won’t speed’.
Mail Online reports:
Dubai Traffic Police Chief Colonel Saif Al Mazroui said the investigation said the man had managed to fit four people into the sports car, which was designed for only two.
Mr Nixon trained at the Motor City Boxing Club and represented Ontario in the Canadian Boxing Championships in 2012.
The Canadian had rented the super-car shortly before ramming it into a lamppost in the neighborhood of Jumeirah Lakes Towers. The three passengers were all thrown from the vehicle.
The police spokesman also confirmed that they had been speeding in a 60 km/h (37 mph) zone.
Youtube footage has emerged from the crash scene, showing the extensive damage to the vehicle.
The other three who died alongside the Canadian in the Sunday morning accident were identified as Europeans.
It is understood one of the other victims was a Canadian friend of Nixon’s called James Portuondo. The 27-year-old was reportedly from Toronto.

The police spokesman added: ‘The three European passengers in the car died instantly while the Canadian died while on the way to hospital.’
The death of the boxer has attracted a flood of condolence messages on social media, with Oshawa’s Motor City Boxing Club posting on Facebook: ‘It’s with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Cody ‘C-4′ Nixon. Cody lost his life yesterday while vacationing overseas. RIP Cody.’
